Koh Chang

 

Die Insel Koh Chang liegt in der Provinz Trat, in der Ostregion von Zentral-Thailand.

 

Koh Chang heißt übersetzt „Elefanteninsel“ und ist mit knapp 500km² die Zweitgrößte Insel Thailands. Die Insel ist Teil eines Meeresnationalparks, besteht zum größten Teil aus einen noch ungestörten und besten erhaltenen  Regenwald Thailands.

 

Das touristisches Zentrum der Insel befindet sich am "white sand beach" oder "hat sai khao", wo es viele Bars und Nachtclubs gibt. Unterkünfte sind dort von der einfachen Bambushütte, bis hin zum Luxusresort zu haben.

Die beste Reisezeit ist von November bis März.

Zu erreichen ist Ko Chang auch per Flugzeug über den Flugplatz der Provinzhauptstadt Trat, der regelmäßig von Bangkok Airways von Bangkok aus bedient wird. Mehrere Fähren - auch Autofähren - verbinden die Insel tagsüber mit dem Festland.
